He has won both Horse of the Year and Sire of the Year, and his son Twist du Valon won Horse of the Year in the US in 98. Ilian de Taute is out of the du Mesnil dam line, whose family has produced several top winners in eventing and jumping, such as Krack d'Argos and Nerval II. Her dam, Guetna du Mesnil, has produced 11 listed winners ... in all 3 disciplines.
Ilian de Taute has a Blup score of +20 and an ISO performance of 129, which was exceptional for a 4 year-old. Ilian de Taute was awarded Elite status during the 2000-jumping season for 4-year-old stallions, the finals being at Fontainebleu. Ilian de Taute had 13 out of 14 double clear rounds in 2000.
