2nd show of season!! we had 2 goals, one to get over 65 in each test, and 2nd to win a test ( that one was ambitious)! we achieved the 1st one, getting 65 and 66.129, and ended up 2nd and 3rd. mainly rider errors!!! and we didn't get the trot lengthens. oh well! very pleasing overall. such a neat little horse!!

Ah, I keep forgetting just how global this forum is! LOL
It is very cool to know the differences in the national levels and tests for other countries. Our own dressage levels/tests have been completely revised, and will hit the showrings Dec.1. Our tests normally change about every five years, but this year--wow! I wish you continued success with your mare!

thanks mary! this is 2nd level in new zealand. not too sure how it compares to us or canadian level 2.... you'd think they were the same, as by level 8 you're there, right? but it has lengthens, leg yields, counter canter, halt at beginning , some sitting trots. and yes, i am always watching for signs of over cooking her. we hack out in the forest quite a lot, and go out to other arenas for schooling. have done a bit of small jumps, and trotting poles, so will do more of that over christmas.

Congrats, Vickie! Above 60% is on the right track, and if you know where the weakness is, you can work on that. second level (assuming we are talking about US--I am not familiar with the Canadian tests) is a pretty challenging level for a coming 5 year old! Be careful not to over-push your mare. Give her time to develop mentally and physically in the training.

1st show of season! 3rd and 4th in level 2, but only 60, and 61.25 whereas i got up to 67% in the winter pre season..... she's still not showing sufficient impulsion. although im pleased, as she;s not 5 till the end of jan, but..........
