Good gracious, how in the world could a horse jump out of a trailer without the people up front hearing something?  I can hear when a horse shifts their weight, let alone jumps out.  Also, I can't picture a type of modern trailer that would even have the capability of jumping out.  I'm sorry, but something is wrong with this picture.

Tess and Wendy are the next due.  Wendy had to vacate her stall and is on cam #2.

We have a new horse on cam - lower left.  This is a colt we just got in - he was being transported here today and he jumped out of the back of the trailer while my friend was driving down the road.  They didn't realize that he was gone until they got to the Virginia/Ohio border and stopped for fuel.  They went back to check on him and the trailer was empty.

They called the police and someone reported that the horse had been hit by a car at mile marker 6 on highway 33 in Ohio.  So my friends headed back that way to see what shape my colt was in.

When they got to the accident location he was gone.  The police left them and said good luck.  They were left alone to find my colt.  I was furious - so I called the police and the fire department.  We called local farms, etc.  The horse people were better at rallying around for help than the authorities.

By the time they found him the fire department and helicopters were there.  They had a hard time catching him but they caught him.  He arrived here a few hours ago and is surprisingly good  He has road rash on his shoulder and above his eyes.  His front right leg is a mess so we cleaned it up and dressed it.  He's on meds, etc but we expect him to be sore and we are praying that he won't colic.

Right now his leg is wrapped and he is on banamine for pain, and ulcer meds because of the banamine and the stress.  He will be in under cam for several days.  Any help watching is appeciated.   If you see a problem please call me at 803-466-0629
