Trying to survey all grooms (show and home grooms) out there to see what the going rate is right now.
A basic groom (can muck stalls, feed, turn in/out, groom, tack etc) is getting about $10 - $15 in Ontario, Canada right now

Do you guys agree with that as being an accurate statement?

Wow - $5 an hour seems so low for a groom, when you think of the work and care that we put into these horses everyday!
As you said - it helps to have connections and a good work history - it is a small community and if you are good people will know about you.

Thanks for your input!
Have fun in Kentucky
Hi. Why don't you have a look at a web site called 'British Grooms Association'. I think you will find it very interesting. Sarah Yeoman
Wow, you guys get paid by the hour? The vast majority of all the grooms I know (including myself) make hardly a thing when you consider the time we put in. A couple dollars an hour is probably being generous. :P
We certainly put in a lot of hours.
It is amazing how much the pay rate changes from barn to barn, discipline to discipline and location of course!
