This is a former post on my blogHoofbeats Return

Sorry I have been bad about blogging recently, but I have had a lot going on.  The most important of which was my recent adoption of an exracehorse named Taylor.  Talk about falling in love!  It may really have been a classic example of love at first sight.  I volunteer at an exracehorse rescue called Race Horse Reclaim Thoroughbred Rescue that is located close to Oaklawn Park.  Deb, the founder and director, provides a haven for racehorses to come and rehabilitate once their racing career has ended.  They are offered a chance to just be a horse and find a new career.  I hope to one day carry on this mission for these wonderful horses.  Please support your local Thoroughbred rescue; it is so important.

Taylor was one of the first horses I met when I started to volunteer.  I went in with the idea that I eventually wanted to adopt one of these horses but thought I wanted to get another mare.  Well Taylor changed my mind about that very quickly.  His gentle nature, attentiveness, and affection won me over and I loved to spend time with him.  I believe if everyone had a chance to be around these magnificent creatures for just a minute they would say what wonderful horses they are.  I cannot possibly express how these Thoroughbreds can transform your life or just how you think of them.  It is very important that we honor these animals and take care of them after their racing careers are over.  After all, even for just a moment, they have provided you with a spark of excitement, won you some money, awed you with their beauty, or showed you what true heart was.

Taylor has been nothing but a joy and brings me so much happiness.  He has the cutest personality and is just beautiful.  I plan to retrain him for dressage and I will continue to blog about our progress and his charm.  :)

Thank you I will!  I just found that site last week and loved it.  I totally agree....I think Thoroughbreds have the best personalities!
