I agree Margaret. I sold mine when I came to NZ. I was so upset, I read the lovely letter from the lady who bought my mare, gushing about the ribbons she had won at the Antigonish Fair, in NS, and couldn't even reply. Now, I sure wish I had kept up with her!

Hi Joe
Any time you want to spend time with horses you are than welcome to come and see mine. Maybe ride if you are up to it. I know how it feels to have to get sell your love ones. I have been there twice in my life time and dont want to do that again.

Thanks for the thoughts Jackie! They have been working well since the incident! And in the wind too. I also mentally tell them to take care of us. Poor Comet was just scared out of his wits. The noise was so sudden!

What a wonderful day. 2 hour ride in the wind along the lake. One birthday party.

Hi Vickie, I am glad the doctor said everything is all right.  Once a doctor tried to tell me to stop riding, I just looked at him like he was a fool, the horses were what kept me going to work everyday so I could afford them.

This is just an idea.  When I am not at my best physically I TELL the horses and ask them verbally to watch out for me (of course I also use visualization to cover all bases.)  This does not mean that the horses are pure angels, it does seem to mean that the horses are willing to give me some slack and a little bit of warning before they move suddenly.  Of course it is up to me to pick up on the warning signals before they move!

Get an RS-tor, it is of great help to me.  Get a neck strap and a grab strap.  If you start falling one of three should help you.  I make do with just the RS-tor and grabbing mane but I am riding horses in their late teens to early thirties, not young ones.

Take care!

All good! Went to the dr, and he thought it was a good idea to be checked out, but he couldn't see anything to worry about. And since I wasn't knocked out or fell on my head it was ok. However.... he did quietly ask when I'll give up riding. I worry about brain bleeds but he says any injury could also result in a major organ bleed. A worry, but I just can't give it up yet!! I so totally love my 2 horses. It is unfortunate that one is only 5, and I haven't had the time/energy to have him going as well as his sister. Although I have, probably misguided, the idea that they do try and look out for me. I rode both today, after taking yesterday quietly, and even in quite windy conditions they were lovely. It will get harder, again, as I go back to work next week.... But as I said, I love them to bits! Thanks for asking about me Cheryl!

How are you feeling now?

Thanks Jackie! I am going in to see the doctor. My family insisted. I felt fine at the time, but just a bit wierd now. And I sure know about the bruising! I fell off the same horse (spooked that time- he's young, unfortunately) and I was off work for most of 3 weeks with my leg elevated. Like I said- warfarin is not nice!

Oh my, Vickie.  Watch out, if you feel any worse call your doctor!!!  My father had been on warfarin, huge bruises caused by nothing, very easy bleeding.

Take care of yourself, please!
