Equine Canada Welcomes Jessie Christie as
Manager of Communications and Media Relations

Ottawa, Ont. -- Equine Canada is very pleased to announce that Jessie Christie will be joining Equine Canada as Manager of Communications and Media Relations, effective February 9, 2015.

A print journalism graduate with over 10 years of experience in media relations, communications, and marketing, Christie was hired by Equine Canada fresh out of college and spent three years as the Communications Coordinator before deciding to explore Canada's west coast. She spent the next five years working in the private marketing sector as a Senior Copywriter.

Most recently, Christie worked in communications at 4-H Canada where she handled a variety of communications initiatives, including campaign coordination, web content development, social media management, and graphic design.

A well-regarded equestrian writer, editor, and public relations professional, Christie has kept her finger on the pulse of the equestrian industry through exceptional freelance media services. In 2014, she joined the Equine Canada media team for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Normandy, FRA, where she acted as the lead writer, covering Canada's dressage, eventing, and vaulting teams.

In her new role with Equine Canada, Christie will manage several integral portfolios related to communications, media relations, and business development. Her responsibilities will include planning and implementing communication strategies, and managing website content. In addition, she will assume the role of editor for Equine Canada's external communication vehicles, including Equine Canada Magazine and the Weekly e-News Roundup.

Christie has been avid horse person for over 20 years, dedicated to riding, training, and competing in hunter and jumper at the provincial and national levels. She is also passionate about giving back to the sport through mentoring young riders.

Her depth of industry knowledge and work experience will prove beneficial to the organization as she takes on this leadership role. We are looking forward to the progressive ideas and initiatives that will develop under her guidance.

"It is incredibly exciting to have my career come full circle through my return to Equine Canada, and I am truly thankful for the opportunity," said Christie. "Horses are in my blood, and it is a joy and an honour to re-join the Equine Canada team and help ensure the equestrian industry receives the recognition and support it deserves."
