Jumper Classics Highlight Saturday Action at Lake Placid Horse Show

Lake Placid, New York -  Four Jumper Classics highlighted Saturday's competition at the 46th annual Lake Placid Horse Show, Presented by Sea Shore Stables, LLC.

 

In the$7,500 The Wild Center Low Junior Jumper Classic, Morgan Ward rode Quite High to victory over a 39-horse field. Ward won the class with two fault-free rides and the fastest jump-off time of 26.906 seconds. Catalina Peralta placed second on Merlin and T.J. O'Mara was third on Brosnan.

In the $7,500 J. Lohr Vineyards & Wine Low Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic, Sima Morgello claimed the win on Zopala, topping a field of 35 horses. Of the 35, only 11 advanced to the jump-off with fault-free rides over the 15-jump, first-round course designed by Show Jumping Hall of Famer Steve Stephens. Of those, seven rode clean in the jump-off with Morgello taking the win with the fastest time of 28.828 seconds. Addison Gierkink took the next two places, finishing second on Casa De La Marta Bay and third on Lady MacBeth DH.

In the$5,000 Crowne Plaza Resort & Golf Club Lake Placid NAL Adult Amateur Jumper Classic (18-40 years old), Tegan Elizabeth Treacy took top honors on Catalyst, topping a field of 27 horses. One of 12 with clean first rounds, Treacy earned the win with a clean jump-off ride in the fastest time of 21.109 seconds. Meghan Flanagan was second on Whip Jet 41 and Paulena Johnson was third on Wundine.

 

In the $5,000 Crowne Plaza Resort & Golf Club Lake Placid NAL Adult Amateur Jumper Classic (over 40 years old), Tracy Harris claimed the win on Une Etoile de L'Eclypse. Harris turned in two fault-free rides and the fastest jump-off time of 23.220 seconds. Debra Wycoff took both second and third, placing second on Remine and third on Arezzo 19.

 

 

Both Adult Jumper Classics are part of the North American League (NAL) which offers classes at hundreds of horse shows across the U.S. and Canada in five divisions. The NAL divisions include Children's Hunter, Adult Hunter, Children's Jumper presented by EquiFit, Adult Jumper presented by SmartPak and Low Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper presented by UltrOZ.

 

Riders and horses compete all year long and the top finishers in each division qualify for the NALNational Finals at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show in October and the NAL West Coast Finals at the Las Vegas National Horse Show in November. The NAL qualifying period runs from September 1 through August 31. Riders need not be members of the NAL to compete in the qualifying classes, however only members receive points toward qualifying for the Finals. The Lake Placid Horse Shows are again hosting three weeks of top horse show competition at the North Elba Show Grounds. Competition begins at 8:00 a.m. daily and runs till about 5:00 each afternoon. The Lake Placid Horse Show concludes Sunday and is followed by the I Love New York Horse Show June 30 - July 5, and the Adirondack Horse Show July 7-11.

Admission to the Lake Placid Horse Shows is just $2.00 per person on weekdays, and $5.00 per person on weekends.

 

Children under the age of 12 are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Discounts are available for groups of 20 or more. Tickets are available at the entrance gate. Advance purchase is not necessary as there is plenty of general seating available. The horse shows are located at the North Elba Show Grounds, 5514 Cascade Road (Route 73) in Lake Placid, directly across from the ski jumps.

 

The horse show offers free admission to anyone who attends the I Love Barbecue & Music Festival from Friday, July 3 - Sunday, July 5. All you need to do is bring your ticket stub from the Festival and you will be admitted to the horse show free of charge!

 

The Lake Placid Horse Shows offer some of the best shopping in the Adirondacks. Local artisans and products are featured along with, equine related shops, clothing, apparel and photography.
