Victoria Colvin And Cafino Jump To Victory

Harrisburg, PA - October 8, 2015 - Victoria Colvin and Cafino, owned by Take the High Road, LLC, jumped to victory in the Individual Phase One of the Neue Schule/USEF National Junior Jumper Championship at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show on Thursday evening. The 17 year-old resident of Wellington, FL was the fastest of the field of 29, stopping the clock in 58.393 more than six seconds faster than last year's winner Lucy Deslauriers and Hester, owned by Lisa Deslauriers. Colvin was surprised at her blazing pace.

"My plan was just to go smooth and nice," said Colvin. "I went a little faster than I thought I was going to go, but he wanted to go, so I went. He's an amazing horse."

Colvin had an amazing opening day earning the top score in the Small Junior Hunter -Riders 16-17 earlier in the afternoon.

"This is one of my favorite horse shows. I have been coming here nine or ten years. It's the show to come to."

Jump faults were converted to seconds in the Speed class and there was a good bit of converting as the Michel Vaillancourt designed course seemed to be too daunting for many of the young competitors garnering only three clear rounds. Eleven riders had rails down prior to Deslauriers who was the first to leave them intact in a time of 64.961. Lucas Porter and Phineas owned by Sleepy P Ranch LLC had the only other faultless round crossing the timers in 65.185.

Scores from the Welcome class carry over into Friday's USEF Prix de States Team Championship/Phase Two of the Individual Championship. The Championship culminates on Saturday evening with the top 60% from Phases I and II.
