Not true that poodle crosses are hypoallergenic. Twenty-five per cent of poodle crosses may well be hypoallergenic "non-shedders", but another twenty-five percent will almost certainly shed as heavily as their other parent does. And if that other parent is a labrador or golden - watch out!
I read a report from a pound in the States saying that they are having an influx of labradoodles and goldendoodles, etc., come in (Gee who'da thunk it?) and that in fact they had a labradoodle up for adoption that was the heaviest shedder they had ever seen, bar none!
The real trick is to get an allergy test to see what it is that you are actually allergic to. Dander? fur? cat? dog? horse?
THEN do the research....Some pets have hair as opposed to fur and can be safe for people who suffer from common fur /dander allergens. It's all interesting stuff! :)
