Hello all, finally a group dedicated to my guys. I have two 6 yr old Clydesdales and am a new horse owner. Looking for advice on taking the best care of these wonderful animals I can get. Also hoping to find an inside scoop on where to find equipment for them. I am looking for nylon harness for everyday driving and having a terrible time finding anything.

Can anyone explain the proper proceedure for oiling feathers and how oftern they oil?

I'm sure there is a better way than I have been tackling it - long handled brush. Not sure if I am getting it in deep enough to prevent Clyde itch.

Hey Amanda you didn't tell me about this group. Finally a place I might learn the secrets to prepping Clydes for shows and sales. Mind you I think I've done okay so far.

I hear the bit issue, we had to have Clyde's bit ordered from the US it is a 6.5" full cheek snaffle. We could only find a few 6" bits carried by a select few tack shops.

oops forgot to add --- the length should be until you see no more hoof.
if they are longer than the end of the hoof itself I would deffinately trim them or else they will step on them and pull them out = (
