When you are showing in DRAFT halter they must be mane rolled- w/ or w/o flowers ( certain number for sex ( geld/mare/stally. )
For just regular classes with light horses it really dosnt matter I normally just do button braids or hunter.
Judges however are not sopposed to "care" in classes other than breed classes.
I was just thinking about this after having a nosey through Emily's blog
( ..lol ... hope you don't mind Em, and by the way ... Good Stuff!! )
And it got me to thinking about Showing the Drafties and Draft crosses.
Question for Every One!! Braiding or Rolling manes for show
What do You think looks better??
Do you find that Judges have a preference for one over the other?
And last .....
Anyone have any pictures of Braiding and/or rolling they could share??
Thanks!!

Just thought Id add- there is something that can be toxic in garlic if fed incorrectly. I was right it is garlic btw.. they sell tubs at feed stores its pricey but apparently effective!
Lee Kelly, his name is Frankie aka Northwest Collessies Falcon
Barbara- thank you so much- brightened my day, I know who would have thought I just started leasing him 2 months ago!
Leanne, I got SWAT its a white tub about 10$ at your local tack store the stuff is pink and its a cream i put it on their legs and if they have cuts or scratches ( sig. for clydes ) thats great to keep the buggers away.
other than that good ol' fly spray. I had a friend who used to put something in their feed..was it garlic powder?
I guess Just making sure your paddock is cleaned everyday is a no brainer = p
Good Luck!
Leanne 16.1 and not yet two .... isn't that Amazing???
I'm Very New to the drafts, so all this SIZE still blows me away ...but definitely in a GOOD way!! ... *wink*
That's a Really Good Question by the way ... about the docked tails and fly control. I'm in the "shopping" stages for my first draft or draft cross, and no tail for swishing flies is mind boggling to me.
I hope there will be LOTS of comments from folks with Experience.
I'll be anxiously watching for their advice!!

My girl is also supposed to get to 18hh! She is 16.1hh now and she is not quite two yet.
What do you all do for fly control? Her tail was docked before I bought her and the flies are eating her alive this summer!! I keep her outside 24/7, I braided some binder twine into her tail and bought her a fly mask but any tips you could give would be greatly appreciated!
I’m a New, but absolutely GROWING fan of All the Draft Breeds, but the Clydesdale is Definitely One of my favorites … how could they NOT be?? ….lol… Lee ... 18.3hh?? … just a little guy ‘eh??? … WOW!!! Emily … You Go Girl!!! .. Keep kick’n those butts!! .. And may I add, You and Your guy present a Beautiful Over All / Working partnership .. I can see why the judges would like what they see!!!
Well Done!!
