Sorry I haven't written sooner but I missed your message. There is a protocol procedure listed on the EC website I believe and I know there is a description in the general regs and hunter jumper rule books. Basically you need to have some experience working at local shows, you make an application through EC to become a Junior Course Designer (small r). This must be in sometime in Sept or Oct. An exam is then sent to you which must be returned by the end of October. You must also take an EC certification Course Design Clinic. This then enables you to work at Bronze and Silver shows. ie Trillium level shows. It is also important to work with a Recognized Senior Course Designer whenever possible. Also a good start is to volunteer to be on the Ring Crew at local shows. Good luck. Hope to see you out there. Evie
I was wondering how you get into course design. Ive been a rider in the Hunter/Jumpers for a number of years but might like to venture outside of riding and try my hand at course design. Im just not sure where abouts to start? Any info would be much appriciated.
Cheers,
Erin
Wow that's pretty scary stuff. It must be a shock to have lost a vet to the virus. Hope you all be very careful. 2 years ago North America has a virus outbreak and it almost shut our big winter circuits down. It surely shook our horseworld and the threat of no big winter circuit would have financially affected everyone. It was a big reality check. Have your shows been shut down? My next show is in a couple of weeks. The Tournament of Champions which is our last big outdoor show. It's an FEI World Cup Qualifier with over $200,000 in prize money. The team will be there so it should be pretty exciting. I'm decorating and the course designer this time is Conrad Homfeld. First time working with him and I'm looking forward to the week. I've been sourcing lots of plants and buying up silks. Should be an exciting week. I'll post some pics after the show. That's all for now. Have a good one. Cheers Evie
