Brenda Minor: 5 top questions riders ask regarding judging

Now that is an interesting question. The rules are very clear that should a rider at a competition have a question for the judge, they must first ask permission to do so through the steward or technical delegate. An excellent tactic, in that it usually means there will be some emotional involvement and the presence of a third party may allow for some coolness of thought. However, in my experience, riders do not ask judges anything. I believe it is the general perception that to talk to a…

Cool eye packs and neck pillows is a must when traveling. They provide relief and relaxation especially when you return from a dusty horse park.

Consider the climate (always pack a small telescopic umbrella)

Remember Important documents and necessities (this should be done at least 2 months prior)

Reserve anything important in advance (don’t assume anything)…

Red Scarf Equestrian's new Studio/Showroom now open!

Hello Everyone,

I have made my move to the country from the city and I must say the change has been long overdue. I sit at my desk every morning and look outside massive floor to ceiling windows to a view the city simply cannot offer. Billy's horses are in the paddock directly in my field of view looking very happy and healthy. Blue, the alpha thoroughbred takes a stab at Indy once and awhile...it's pretty funny to watch the two of them in their conversations. The scenery is absolutely…

Behind-The-Scenes Q&A with Dressage Olympian Ashley Holzer

Red Scarf Equestrian presents a behind-the-scenes Q&A with Olympian Ashley Holzer

1. How do they organize all the athletes before they march into the stadium? What is everyone doing?

Unfortunately we were not able to attend the opening ceremonies in Beijing as our events were held a plane ride away in Hong Kong. I was very sad to have not participated in them. I was worried about…

Who knows what will come of "designers in the country" The studio is nearly finished and we get to move into the house on Saturday. Long time coming. I am looking forward to the changes in the business and the visits by clients who are looking to shop in peace and quiet. Zamboni sends greetings and Elise said to say Hi. Spruce Meadows will be wonderful. We need to get your chairs done for World Cup!

Hi Joanna, I would love to have some bags to show in the studio. As you know I handle only custom product cand only products that can live up to the Exquisite Equestrian name. Your bags definitely do! Elise loves her City Bag and gets lots of compliments on it. I think they will be a great fit for the company. I'll send pictures next week of the studio and I have a couple of spots on my display shelf. I was also thinking I can update the website to link for clients. Gary is working on that now -must definitely link to Red Scarf! Have a lovely night. Lyn

Hi Joanna- isn't a studio in the country great! We are planning a wine tasting and party at my studio at the beginning of the show season. It is wonderful to watch the dogs (Zamboni and Gimlet) power wrestling in under the maple trees while I sketch!
