Segunda Vida Equine Rescue

Segunda Vida Equine Rescue is York Region's only registered non-profit Equine Rescue.

Our Mission:

To provide a loving, safe and healthy environment and to protect and provide for abused, neglected, starved, injured and abandoned equines as well as special needs horses and to provide them with proper care and rehabilitation time if needed and successfully place them in forever homes with loving and caring families.

To provide all essential care and to ensure a second opportunity and quality of life.

We will continue to be the spoken voice for our silent equine partners who have suffered the horrendous fate of slaughter or whose journey have them headed in a direction with no hope for change.

What We Do:

Every year there are thoursands of horses that suffer from physical and psychological abuse and neglect. These equines need immediate protection.

It is our sincere goal to help as many horses as possible to have the safe, happy Second Life that they deserve in new forever homes, after years of devotion and loyal service to teh humans who ised them for showing, racing or pleasure riding. We are a compassionate group of individuals, dedicated to rescuing as many horses as possible from slaughter, neglect, abuse and to find them permanent loving homes for them when possible.

Every penny goes towards the horses for feed, hay, supplements, medical care, and othe rnecessities. There will be no tomorrow for many unwanted horses, however with your help we can save many that otherwise would perish.

We are a group of horse lovers, determined to make a difference for as many horses as feasibly possible. Sometimes this task seems insurmountable and overwhelming, but we are inspired when we touch, hear and see the horses enjoying their safe environment - as every equine deserves.

SHELBY - Welsh/Appy Cross Pony Mare Available for Adoption

Shelby is a 12-year old Appaloosa/Welsh pony cross, she is 13.2-13.3hh, and Shelby is a stunning pony.

Shelby does love attention and loves to be ridden; she enjoys it though she is sore after and needs some time to rest.
Shelby we believe was used as a show pony previously and suffers from arthritis. When ridden she just wants to go and go, and if ridden should be done by a small experienced rider. We feel that Shelby would be best suited in a companion setting with very light riding. Shelby's rider should be confident and experienced as she is not a beginner horse. Shelby could benefit from Bute when being ridden and some time off in between rides.

Shelby has been ridden very casually this year and likes having a job or purpose. Shelby is an easy keeper as she lives outdoors 24/7 in a medium size herd, she does well outdoors and has no issues or vices.

Most of our Rescue horses come with an option of a free lease trial for one month. If you are interested in free lease or fostering please contact the Rescue and find out how you can help us give another equine a Second Chance.

After the successful completion and approval of an adoption application, the horses will be micro chipped and come with an adoption contract.
