I'm old enough to be your mother; love to play with my animals; write; sing; paint; travel and like making new friends. I live across the street from Robyn in Aurora.

Hi Holly Anne, sorry it took so long to answer your question, but I had some surgery on my shoulder and could not type for a while. I had two blankets on that foal that January morning. The first one (with the arms on it) was the jacket off my back. Once I sedated the mare (she wouldn't let the foal nurse) and got things going, I took off to town and got this cute little foal blanket at Smithers Feed, our local feed and tack store. It was a bit big on her at first, but she sure has grown. Our foals are usually born in April/May, but this one was a suprise. She sure is a little survivor though. Have to say how much I like your photos. Benny is a very lucky pony to have you for his person. I'll get some updated photos of the baby to post in the next while.
    Cheers,
    Cheryl

Morning Holly Anne, tore my rotator cuff in my shoulder last August working on the ranch. Just got in now to get it fixed. I have a 2 y/o palomino QH gelding to start in the next few weeks, so am glad to be healing up. We haven't come up with a name for the filly yet. Got any suggestions? We will be registering her shortly so we have to come up with something. We are expecting about 5 foals this spring and it gets tough to come up with all these names.

    Happy Trails,
    Cheryl

Hi Holly, Yes, I love my kangaroos they are very cute. They were all orphans and I hand reared them - they are now 11 and 10 and 10 years old - two boys and a girl.
They are like furry children and I get the best cuddles every night and I am so lucky to have them as not many people get kangaroo cuddles I don't hink !! Hope your having lost of fun with benny - best wishes

    Hi Holly Anne,
    Many thanks for the welcome.
Good luck in your show this week.
I don't show, I just ride for pleasure, but I used to when I was your age - a long time ago,
  • John Freeman

    Hi Holly Anne,
I used to teach at Ryerson University, in Toronto. I've also taught at Durham College, in Oshawa, Mission College in Santa Clara, California, and Syon School in Middlesex, England.
We live in a tiny village about 20 minutes north west of Kingston. My horse, Zuckie, lives at a boarding barn in Yarker, which is the next village east of us.
Zuckie is a 15h3" retrained standardbred. He and I met through the volunteer work I do for the Ontario Standardbred Adoption Society.

    cute dogs
  • John Freeman

I guess I have traveled a lot, but not so much lately. These days, I'm quite happy to stay home and our dog, who just died in January was frail for quite a long time and that made a difference. In his earliest years, he was a great traveler and went all over North America.
As to competing, I did a fair amount when I was young - mostly jumping and cross country. I was trained in dressage but never competed.
What classes are you doing in your upcoming show?
  • John Freeman

I could tell from your photograph that you are young. I started to ride when I was 8 and I am a firm believer in starting early - when you have no fear, lol. I think back to the way I rode as a teenager and what I jumped then, and I know I couldn't have been so courageous if I'd started later. Besides, when one is young it all becomes a natural part of us - the horse becomes almost an extension of our own bodies. I was fortunate to have my father's encouragement. He courted my mother on horseback! By-the-way, I'm probably about your grandparent's age - maybe even older. I'm 64.
  • T-baum Tanenbaum

    Hi Holly,
Thanks for "friending" me. Your pony, Benny, is really cute. My horse's name is Cooper, he's 3-years old now. Hope he turns out as nice as your pony. I would like to show him some day (dressage). We've just started him under saddle and he's been a really good boy, so far.
    Take care. Jan

hi Red just turned 8 in May. He was alone in a field for 7 years and his only companions were the people he lived with. He was very loved by them but nobody rode hi for the last 4 years. When I got him he did not know how to be a horse. Now he is the herd boss. Now tell me about your horse
  • Nicola Barnes

    Yup! Getting a horse!
  • Halle Myers

thankx! that is awsome that there is only a 2 year difference.
  • Nicola Barnes

His name is Mowgli. He is an ex-racehorse. He had an accident on the track, don't know wat, so he was sold 4 cheap 2 a farm where he got no treatment and only grass 2 eat 4 2 months! My riding teacher saw him and saved him. His leg is a lot better and he is able 2 jump again! She said she recommends me 2 get highly competitive if Mo is 2 be my horse!
How's Calvin? And how r u? In the 'beginning' Nikki wanted Mo 4 R5000 and now he is R10 000! Which is more proof he is better! Fingers crossed!
  • Nicola Barnes

Sorry! Not Calvin, Benny! Got mixed up!
  • Halle Myers

i know that would be awsome!
  • Brooke

  • Nicola Barnes
