I got my first horse 40 years ago today (7-4-1970, I was 19) after having trail ridden in Chile and Uruguay for four years while in grade school.
I am now disabled with Multiple sclerosis. I still ride due to the kindness of others (human and equine}.
I now ride Forward Seat on the flat, since I am too disabled to jump.
I adore Arabian horses!
Thanks for your kind comment Jackie. Mr. Maple is a sweetie pie. Emy (a novice jr.) rode him in her first show this past weekend. He sensed she how nervous she was and would come down to a walk or almost halt for her - it was very sweet. She was more determined in her second class and earned high scores and Sunday the pair of them were spot-on.
No I was opening boxes from my move to Leduc and found this book which turned out to be extremely rare. Im trying to find rare book dealers or collectors that might be interested in buying it from me
Hi Jaclie. I'll have to try that. It sounds better than what Ive got so far. I was hoping that one would be smarter than the other and could be renamed Budwiser. But that seems a poor name for a belgian. I also thought to name him after where he came from. But B.C. Bud isnt really a good name either.
Thank you so much. It is one of my favorites of her. But with her she is very photogenic. She is one of those horses that always seems to look good in any photo! Not so much with my other horse - we always seem to need to set him up. :)
Thanks Jackie! I hope to get back into riding horses. I keep thinking I am too old to ride but after looking at just a few posts here I am inspired! It has been over 25 years but I still miss my horses!
Gosh, thanks Jackie... so far I've tried out almost 9 already.. did a trial run for a month on Ari but as he was a rescue horse, too flighty...:) so I have my ads out and people looking out for me... also there's a horse show coming up this weekend so will go to that too...would be neat to keep in touch, cheers, Lee
That's so wonderful that you've had the opportunity to ride for so long! I'm hoping to find a place I can volunteer at closer to our new home. I've seen so many miracles happen with therapeutic riding and Hippotherapy. Where I had been, we had cases from mild autism to spina bifida to children/adults who were totally incapacitated with CP etc. and couldn't even speak. Though I really loved the time with the horses the most(I even got to train a bit and muck many stalls), seeing how much the riding was helping most of the riders and their improvement from week to week was so uplifting! Lots of 'warm fuzzy' feelings :)

Hello Jackie...thank you for the welcome. It's good to see a site like this. I struggle daily with "do I keep my horses, or do I rehome them" daily. I am a widow who lives alone, well not totally in the middle of the woods with my critters. I live with chronic pain, mostly in the neck and legs. I want to ride my horses more but due to having so much to do around the farm I find myself just hanging out with them. However, I enjoy it. They have helped me deal with all the ups and downs in the last 8 years. I doubt that I will ever give them up but sometime feel that they should be ridden much more....Got the mom guilt. Do you ever feel that way?

Hi Jackie
Well its notes as "The arest of the Rare" It was published in 1910-hardcover.The author is Rudolf Jordan Jr.
The book is in excellent condition-pictures are like new-no tears-no missing pages.
Very slight wear on the hard cover.
Ive been told it is classic. It has to do with the Gait of the American Trotter and Pacer-Standardbreds if you didnt know.
The actual title is:
THE GAIT OF THE AMERICAN TROTTER AND PACER.
Ive got feelers out trying to determine whats this book is worth.
If you have any suggestions let me know.
Have a great day
larry
