A Bit About Me and my Horse(s)
I got my first horse 40 years ago today (7-4-1970, I was 19) after having trail ridden in Chile and Uruguay for four years while in grade school.
I am now disabled with Multiple sclerosis. I still ride due to the kindness of others (human and equine}.
I now ride Forward Seat on the flat, since I am too disabled to jump.
I adore Arabian horses!

Thank you Jackie for the nice welcome and for letting me join. I love the name, it reminds me of my little audience at feeding time, and also of a poem that I wrote.

Hi Jackie!  Yes, Tony was quite a guy.  Love of my Life!  He would give you hugs & kisses & love bumps!  My parents were having troubles and finally went through a divorce.  Tony and my little beagle Bambi were my only refuge!  She used to ride across my legs on Tony.  I spent many a day and night in the stall or out in the pasture with the two of them.  We were kinda the 3 muskateers!  Animals are the Truest Best Friends you can ever have!  Tony & Bambi were the only animals I ever picked.  God sent me and sends me animals that are strays to take in and care for, even some wildlife!  I Love All Critters!  I have been called the Squirrel Nut and the Idiot who talks to Crows!  I have 6 crows that will come when I call them!  All sharing an unconditionaly Love!

Hi Jackie: Nice to meet you! I have 3 horses and looking for a fourth to jump with. I was born in '62 and have a 14 yr old and a 17 yr old. I got back into riding 8 months ago when my kids quit and have not looked back. I wish I could have started 10 yrs ago. I was physically in better condition. But I love it and am not stopping until ......never.

Hi Jackie ~ Yes, he definitely can be a little devil; but most of the time he is a ton of fun to ride!  I love to read posts by others on this board and how they deal with training problems that come up with their horses.  I'm a perpetual "training level" dressage rider :)  Restarted after my kids were grown and loving every minute at the barn.

Thanks for the welcome! I look forward to being a member of this board!

    Hi Jackie

Thank you for the greeting.  I'm with you.  It's been too cold, and even worse- icy,  to ride.  So I visit my horse and that makes me feel better.

I'm a newbie on this site and just figuring out what stuff means & how to do it.  Lynn

Thanks, Jackie! After riding for at least 4 hours a day, 5 or 6 (sometimes 7) days a week for most of my adult life (18- nearly 60) plus all the hours I rode as a kid, I have definitely put in a lot of miles in the saddle.

Thanks for the welcome :)  Our Shires are such a hoot - we just love them.  Ours aren't as big as some (17.1 and 17.3 hands) but that's fine with me and I'll be riding 5 year old regularly as soon as we get some decent weather up here.

Here's Corva, our now 5 year old as a 3 year old

    and Jodie, our teenager broodmare

Thanks for the welcome. I'm puzzled. For some reason even though I joined the community and for some time have liked the FB page, I can't 'like' or comment on anything there. Why?
  • Paula Stevens

I believe it is a "real"  bosal.  Here is Cody wearing the bosal bridle.

  • Paula Stevens

this is another view of his bosal bridle. ( I'm on him)

  • Paula Stevens

I like it a lot. It has helped me with my hands, I tend to be rough sometimes. So this helps a lot. It also is forcing me to use my legs and stomach to direct since there is no neck reining at all. It's really easy to put on too. When/if I get horses I want to use only bosal bridles.  :D

  • Paula Stevens

Jackie, you have been the best for giving me encouraging words and sage advice for my riding journey. Thank you and have a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year

       Hi Jackie;

Thank You for friending me. I rode horses in my 20's to 40's.. I became very ill, Learning I had renal kidney failure, and fibromyalgia. I had 6 hours of back surgery, and was never suppose to walk again. But I did! I at 59 started riding horses again, We moved to SC  and I rented horses a few times,, This is where they brought in Dolly, We had had a flood here, and she was by a levee that had broke. For a month she was inside a barn standing in water up to her back,, She was bones.. I saw then trailer her in. I was in a bad mental way.. I talked to her owner.  she wanted to sell her,  I was suppose to stop riding, but something about this horse, pushed me to her.. I bought her the next week.. We put the weight back on her, and we because special soul mates, almost spiritual. So? Riding later in life-- when I wasn't suppose to, she saved my life,, and I certainly saved her life,,

Your a brave person, I commend your effort to be with your horse..
