Event Description

Equine artist Karen Brenner's newest series of paintings, Beautiful Horses of Indiana, will be shown at the Eiteljorg Museum's Women in Art Market in Indianapolis. The Market, which will include paintings, fiber art, ceramics and more from 40 regional women artists, runs from 10 AM - 5 PM - Saturday, March 26, 2011.

The Beautiful Horses of Indiana series contains 52 paintings featuring a wide array of horses -- from heavies to minis - and one mule named "Miss Mary." Brenner traveled throught Indiana last summer visiting farms and photographing horses that had been nominated by their owners and/or fans for the project. Brenner's style is realistic with an emphasis on luminous, pure colors. She applies many layers of translucent oil paint to achieve her unique look. The Market will be an opportunity to view the Beautfiul Horses of Indiana series in person. The paintings can be viewed online at

The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art's collections include work by artists such as Georgia O’Keeffe, N. C.
