Looking through the news and the forums it seems (as always) there controversy at these games...

The FEI has been forced to make yet another statement during this Olympic Games.
This time, it concerns a meeting which took place in the competitors' briefing room, as FEI vice-president Chris Hodson said "at the very unusual time of 1.30am on Monday morning".
It involved the ground jury, TD, appeal committee, FEI officials and representatives of the Danish, German, Dutch and American teams. Other teams have raised concerns as to why this was taking place, mid competition, and a second meeting was held the following day with representatives from all competing teams. The matter is now the subject of an FEI enquiry and a statement is expected soon.

Dutch Olympic judge Gislaine Fouarge complaint about the hugh intimidations from riders, trainers and coaches, during the last Olympics in HongKong, allthough he also mentioned that the riders, trainers and coaches didn't intimidate himself, he whitnessed many stalking and intimidations directed to his collegues. Head of the KNHS George de Jongh suggested that the FEI should start working with yellow and red cards, because he thinks that the judges can't functions under these circumstances.

...the German team was discovered by American grooms out "back on the hacking trails" without permission and reported that George Morris was furious.

---Three months ago the Dutch already complaint about the fact that Riexinger was appointed as head of the judges. Meaning he was allowed to judge all three tests. The reason for the Dutch complaint was that Gotthilff Riexinger scored all Dutch riders significantly low in three different competitions.

...there are questions in regard to the scores provided by Riexinger...questioning of the Peters test in comparison to Kemmer...a blog reported Riexinger's bell ringing was a bit strange (loud for the Germans/quiet for the other nations)

I guess all we can do is watch :)

On top of all this was the passing of an American horse by the vets (eventing venue) when the horse was obviously lame. I think the FEI has to rethink how they are going to 'penalize' vets and judges who fall short of the mark, not to mention coaches and grooms who are intimidating the judges. Will be interesting to see if anything is done or the whole thing glossed over as usual.

Which eventing horse was this?

There was a lot of buzz on the internet about Brentina(Debbie McDonald) being sore that the US vet had to issue a statement regarding the health of the horse. Brentina will be retired in 2009 at the world cup.

"From my couch" the test looked laboured in comparison to her previous tests.
