Hi horse lovers,

It's good to be here. I'm looking for fresh perspectives. I used to be an avid rider. I galloped and retrained OTTBs, showed, gamed, groomed professionally. I now have spinal injuries that cause chronic pain. Fortunately not horse-related, so I have no fear. Fractured vertebrae and damaged disks. I can ride at a walk, but no trotting. I have to limit physical activity. No mucking, but I can groom a couple of horses a day, and lunge.

I'd love to find a career in the horse industry that allows accomodation for my injuries, while using the skills I've retained: intuition, compassion, observation, boundaries, persistence, a light and calming touch. I've been considering equine assisted therapies---but don't wish to get heavily into the "counseling" aspect. I like ground training.

I'm presently a music educator, and very good with groups. I'm interested in learning to drive. I've considered becoming a therapeutic riding instructor, but am not completely convinced. I know we always have to have people connected to horses. But on the balance, I'd like to spend more time with horses, than with people. I wouldn't mind part of the job being administrative, particularly since I have a background in media and public relations. As long as it was still horse-related :-D

I'm eligible for funding that would pay for retraining with a registered business or non-profit, anywhere in Canada. I'm presently in BC. I don't have the capital to buy my own property and horses. Something like a boarding stable would be difficult.
