Does anyone know if horses towing skiers on packed snow need to have shoe's? I haven't ridden on packed snow and was wondering if it was slippery? I think most of the ski joring courses are straight. My horse is always barefoot but I wouldn't want to risk him falling.
My daughter and I are going to a clinic in Rochester NH this saturday, so we can learn alot then ,but Is anyone here into this sport?

There is an article in a mag called 'Horse & Rider' Jan issue and it gives loads of advice and tips on ski joring, but also racing, polo, calvary, jumping carriage riding all on snow and ice. There is an event in Lake St, Moritz, switzerland I think its on now hence the article. Try a google it, its fascinating, web site is horseandrider.com. Check out an article on the icelandic pony trec and all their tips for snow and ice riding. Let me know if I can help more and let me know how you get on.
