THERE IS A PROPOSAL TO BAN HORSERIDERS IN MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA. WE NEED YOUR HELP

THE SAFETY OF OUR YOUNG RIDERS AS WELL AS THE HISTORY OF TRAIL RIDING ON OUR HISTORIC TRAILS IS AT RISK.

Our local government, Nillumbik council are developing a Recreational Trails Policy trail plan for the Panton Hill Bushland Reserve system.
This system is wonderful safe place for adults & children to ride on bush tracks and to keep off roads. The council has been lobbied heavily from environmentalists and the proposal sends a clear message that horse riding in the reserves is not welcomed and the safety of riders is not a priority.

The current proposal as suggested by council, is to permit local horse riders access to only two of the nine trails they have historically ridden on and treasured for decades, and continue to use to this day. Only 2 small trails will remain but the majority will be redirected to the road side. This is a potentially fatal move and one that will also limit greatly how, in particular our children, enjoy this beautiful sport while appreciating our wonderful surrounds safely.
We strongly believe that the community is best served by achieving a fair balance between conservation, recreational use and community safety.

There are a lot of people working on different ideas on how to send a clear message to council that there is a large section of the community that don't want this to go ahead.

We need to UNITE as one big group and be heard otherwise the Council’s draft plan WILL go ahead and we WILL lose a safe & integral part of why living with horses in this beautiful area is so precious.

Please show your support and join the facebook group below and send it to all your facebook friends. Your membership will show our local council it is not OK ban horse riders from local trails and push them onto the roads!
