Comment by Pamela on November 16, 2010 at 2:21pm: Had our regular monthly meeting last night. The topic was saddles. I began by teaching them about the tree and am building a saddle up from there. The kids will be creating a pretend custom saddle based on real measurements from their horse. Covered bars, cantle & pommel and measuring the gullet. Next month we will cover the rigging, stirrup leathers, stirrups and skirting. I am hoping to take them to see a custom saddle maker and have him do a fitting on a horse next week.

Comment by Pamela on November 10, 2010 at 2:48pm: The trail ride went off without a hitch! I was a beautiful day for a ride and the kids and horses behaved really well. We rode the trails for about an hour and then headed back to the trail head. We all ate a picnic lunch and I asked the kids about what they have achieved over the last year and what goals are they going to set for next year. We are not going to plan another trail ride, but if the weather holds out, we may try to take a trail ride over Thanksgiving break. Watching the kids ride and handle their horses, really shows how much the kids have developed over the last year.
