Public Invited to Attend First Showing Show at Racecourse

Over 1,000 competitors and horses are expected to attend Aintree International Equestrian Centre’s Showing Show at Aintree Racecourse on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th July. The competition, which will host over 255 classes during the weekend, is a rare opportunity to view horses at the famous course, which historically stages no race meetings during the summer months.

A first of its kind, the outdoor Showing Show, which will contain 6 rings in the centre of the racecourse, will include classes for retrained racehorses with £1,000 prize money on offer for the champion in this category. The winner of this prize, sponsored by Aintree Racecourse, will also qualify for the Supreme Champion Category on Sunday and a chance to double the prize money to £2,000. For competitors, a full list of categories can be found at www.aintreeequestriancentre.co.uk

On both days of the event, classes start at 8am and spectators are welcome to attend this free admission event. For the children, there will be Groovy Hooves Pony grooming and pony rides plus catering concessions and trade stands. Visitors are encouraged to take advantage of the summer weather, bring a picnic blanket and enjoy this rare use in the centre of the famous course.

For Show Jumping enthusiasts, the Blue Lights Horse Show will take place in the Aintree Equestrian centre on the Sunday, featuring unaffiliated show jumping for both juniors and seniors with prizes on offer.

Another first for the racecourse on this weekend will be its Family Golf Day at the course’s Golf Course and Driving Range. Competitions will be staged to include a 9-hole Adult and child competition, followed by games and a BBQ, nearest to the pin competition and a junior competitions (handicap and non-handicap). Scott Duffy, Aintree’s professional Golf Pro will also be on-hand with free golf lessons. Visit www.aintree.co.uk/golf to find out more. Both weekend activities are supported by John Hulley, an organisation promoting a healthy body and healthy mind through sport.
