The discipline managers “enter the arena.”
From 14 to 16 May 2012, Le Pin National Stud provided the ideal setting for the discipline managers’ first working seminar. The entire team was brought together by Laurent Cellier, the sports director of the Normandie 2014 Organising Committee.
In this important centre of equestrianism, future host to the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2014 in Normandy eventing competition on 30 August 2014, the French experts in charge of official equestrian events, defined their event road maps right up to 2014.
Laurent Beauvais, president of the GIP Normandie 2014, Sabrina Zeender, director of governance at the FEI and Jean-François Etienne des Rosaies, president of the IFCE (French Equine and Equestrianism Institute), joined them from day one to renew their commitment to setting up the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2014 in Normandy.
“With only 830 days to go before the beginning of the event, we are really entering the operational phase of the sporting events’ preparation. The substantive work begins now for everyone. We are proud of this team which is fully committed to making a success of the competitions to the highest, international standard and in a spirit of complete openness towards everyone. We wanted to be a part of this key stage for the Organising Committee”, Laurent Beauvais points out.
“Along with Laurent Cellier, the FFE and the FEI, we have worked very closely to recruit experts who meet the requirements of the project from a technical point of view but who also adhere to the values that we hold dear”, emphasises Fabien Grobon, managing director of the Organising Committee.
This time together, dedicated to discussion and to working practices, was followed up further with other departments of the Organising Committtee, and most notably with those in charge of the development of the competition sites and with their counterparts at the Fédération Equestre Internationale.
«The sports team is made up of a group of people who share the same values. The discipline managers have already shown us their ability to enrich the event with their own background experience, to work together in a transversal way. It’s a positive sign for the future. Our regular working seminars will provide valuable support to maintaining the team spirit that keeps us going”, adds Laurent Cellier, sports director.
