Just 500 days to go before the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2014
in Normandy.
Volunteers, Club Normandie 2014, an Official Mascot -
Time to get ready for the Games!
In 500 days time, Normandy will be living to the rhythm of the seventh edition of the biggest
event in equestrian sports. Caen’s d’Ornano Stadium will be welcoming 20,000
spectators for the opening ceremony on the evening of Saturday, 23 August 2014.
This will enable competitors and organisers to enjoy this fun-packed moment to the full and allow
them to have the whole of Sunday to get ready for the event. The equestrian competitions will
start, as scheduled and in agreement with the Fédération Equestre Internationale, on Monday 25
August to finish on Sunday 7 September.
What about you? What will you be doing for the Games?
This open-ended invitation is for all those who want to take part in the event. Volunteers,
businesses, actors in the equine sector…Everyone is concerned! The time has come for Normans,
horse lovers and all those who simply adore Normandy to come forward and be counted.
It’s now down to them to make the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2014 in Normandy
happen!
Recruitment programme for 3,000 volunteers: it’s ready, steady, go!
On 10 April, with only 500 days to go, the Normandie 2014 Organising Committee is opening its
doors to volunteers. Whether they’re from down the road or from the other side of the world, we
would like them to join us in this fantastic group project. There’s a place for every single one of
them. Our volunteers will come into direct contact with the public, have the benefit of training at
an international event and more than anything, enjoy a truly unique experience.
Online recruitment via the event’s website will be available (www.alltechfeiwegnormandy2014.com.)
Candidates must be 18 or over and be both motivated and available during the fortnight of
competitions. 1,000 volunteers will be trained to help out at the test events in 2013, with a further
1,500 to 2,000 to join their ranks in 2014. Candidates will be subject to a registration process,
followed by an in-depth information and training course. May the spirit of the Games be with
them!
« The 3,000 volunteers will represent the welcoming face of Normandy and will be the first
contact that the public has with the event. They will live by the values of openness and respect,
which are the hallmarks of the Norman edition of the event. They will of course have full
training to make them just as professional as anyone else on the organising team. The London
Olympics proved that any event is only as good as its volunteers. They hold the key to making a
successful, welcoming and friendly major international event. Our Normandie 2014 “Games
Makers” will be the very essence of the event. »
Laurent Beauvais, president of the Normandie 2014 Organising Committee
Club Normandie 2014: businesses get to show their team colours
Far from being for the select few, the Normandie 2014 Business Club is open to everyone:
artisans, retailers, small, medium and large businesses (with or without a connection to the
equine sector)… During the course of the next 15 months, the aim is to mobilise and bring
together 2,014 “business supporters” that are willing to give their time and energy to promote the
Games. A fantastic challenge lies ahead - everyone will get to see just how dynamic a place
Normandy really is.
The “Club” businesses are invited to get into the spirit of the Games; they’ll be invited to all sorts
of different equestrian events. Neither sponsors nor suppliers, they will be joining a self-financing
association. Membership fees will be calculated in proportion to the number of employees.
Online information will be available on the Games’ official website as of 10 April 2013.
“Businesses are going to be talking about the Games, showing their involvement, promoting the
event with pride. The Normandie 2014 Club will give them the means to mobilise their
employees, partners and clients…Just imagine it - 2,014 businesses and thousands of members
all representing the Games!”
Fabien Grobon, managing director of the Normandie 2014 Organising Committee
The official mascot: the Normans adopt NORMAN
Forget William, it’s Norman the Conqueror! His parents met in Lexington during the last edition
of the World Equestrian Games. The fruit of this modern day love story is our cute little mascot!
The charismatic captain of the Normandy team is about to trot out of his stable to mobilise all the
event’s fans. Norman’s playful nature means that he’ll be our most enthusiastic fan and perhaps a
little difficult to ‘rein in”, but how could anyone resist such a lovable softie!
« With just 500 days to go, it’s ON YOUR MARKS…! » announced Norman, the Alltech FEI
World Equestrian Games™ 2014 in Normandy official mascot!
Crédit Agricole Normandie becomes an Official Supplier
Represented by its president, Daniel Epron, Crédit Agricole Normandie is proud to become the
Official Banking and Insurance Partner of the Normandy edition of the Games. This decision
comes as no surprise as it shares the same values as the event; both bring people together and
function as an environmentally responsible model.
Crédit Agricole Normandie is a leading financial partner to the Lower Normandy economy with its
773,000 clients and 270,000 members. Some 2,000 staff members provide services to 50% of the
Lower Normandy population, 2 out of 5 businesses, 2 out of 5 local professionals and 8 out of 10
farmers. Historically, it has always had close links with this equestrian region and enjoys a solid
reputation for its expertise in the equine sector. It is a unique occasion for the bank to be involved
in giving the region an enormous boost.
