Contests Open for Entries at the American Youth Horse Council 2012 Symposium

The 35th annual AYHC Symposium (March 23-25, Herndon, VA) offers a full schedule of classroom and arena presentations, evening entertainment, AYHC annual elections and even an awards ceremony. The Symposium also offers the opportunity to compete for prizes in two contests designed to add lively fun to the gathering.

The HorseSmarts Round-up is a timed contest that challenges youth ages 14-19 to “show their smarts” by answering 100 questions on equine knowledge. The top ten competitors will receive recognition, and prize money will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places ($250, $150, and $100 respectively). The HorseSmarts Round-up is sponsored by the USEF High School Equestrian program.

The AYHC also invites clubs, associations, states, groups, or individuals to “Make a Basket Case.” Anyone who would like to donate items to the AYHC Silent Auction is asked to consider building a basket of miscellaneous items that represent his or her person, club, association, state, or group. The entry can be coordinated in advance or at the Symposium. Items and containers can carry out a theme of the group presenting the basket. Containers are limited to no larger than 3’x3’x3’ and items included must fit in the basket or container. Bragging rights as well as a free registration to the 2013 AYHC Symposium will go to the creator of the high selling basket at the Silent Auction.

The full schedule and registration form for the AYHC 2012 Symposium is available online at www.AYHC.com or by contacting the AYHC office at either (719) 547-7677 or info@AYHC.com . Everyone with an interest in the youth horse industry will find valuable resources at the Symposium; AYHC members receive a discount on registration fees.

The American Youth Horse Council mission is to provide encouragement, communication, leadership and resources to serve and promote the youth horse industry; AYHC carries out its mission in a widespread network of academic, breed, commercial, scientific and other industry representatives who share a common interest in “connecting kids through horses.”
