Allegations that some 461 horses at the Salt Lake Regional Wild Horse and Burro Center were being mistreated have been deemed "without foundation", the Salt Lake Tribune reports.
“The allegations that horses were having difficulty moving through the mud or were down and unable or having difficulty rising, were being herded or moved with a ‘small bulldozer,’ that horses tails were cut off, or that horses were being inappropriately worked in a ‘metal box’ or not being provided with adequate veterinary care were found to be without foundation,” the investigating BLM team said.
The Salt Lake Regional Wild Horse and Burro Center was established in 1995 with the help of community volunteers and land donated by the Kennecott Cooper Corporation. The center was built to provide a location to house horses and burros rounded up each year by the Bureau of Land Management. To learn more, visit their website.
