Entry Deadline Rapidly Approaching
for This Year's Brandywine Valley Summer Series

 

Devon, PA -  Only two weeks remain to enter to compete in this year's Brandywine Valley Summer Series, presented by Taylor Harris Insurance Services. Now in it's third year, the increasingly popular 'AA' rated hunter and jumper competition will be return to the prestigious Devon Show Grounds on June 26-June 30 and July 3-July 8, 2013. Named the Pennsylvania Horse Show Association's "Horse Show of the Year" in 2011, the Brandywine Valley Summer Series has continued to expand it's offerings each year, providing a wide array of both hunter and jumper events throughout the two weeks.

 

The 2013 Brandywine Valley Summer Series returns with more prize money up for grabs than ever before. For the first time this year, the series will feature a $15,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby and two $5,000 National Hunter Derbies. Johnson Horse Transportation has been a continually strong supporter of the series since it's inception, and this year the company is delighted to sponsor the headlining $15,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby on Sunday, June 30. Thanks to first week derby sponsors Outer Beaches Reality and the Risser Family and second week class sponsor Concord Pet Food and Supplies, the $5,000 National Hunter Derbies will take the Saturday night spotlight on both June 29 and July 6.

 

Throughout the two weeks of 'AA' competition, more than $100,000 in prize money will be awarded across the hunter divisions, ranging from professionals to ponies. With numerous classes held in the Dixon Oval, many divisions, including the Adult Hunters, Children's Hunters and Pony Hunters, have the opportunity to compete in front of the venerated, blue Devon grandstands.

 

The 2013 divisions will include the $5,000 Green Working Hunters, the $3,500 High Performance Hunters, the $1,000 Performance 3'3" Hunters, the $1,900 Performance 3'6" Hunters, the $5,500 Amateur Owner Hunters, the $6,000 Junior Hunters, the $4,500 Pony Hunters, the $2,000 Children's Hunters, the $1,500 Adult Amateur Hunters and the $1,500 Small Hunters.

 

The Brandywine Valley Summer Series management is also excited to announce a broadened show schedule throughout the second week of competition. From July 3-July 7 the show will include all of the following additional divisions: Low Children's Hunters, Pre-Children's Hunter Horse, Pre-Children's Hunter Pony, Low Adult Hunters, Pre-Adult Hunters, Open Hunter, Thoroughbred Hunters, Pony Jumpers and Pleasure.

The show will also feature several hunter classics and stakes including the $1,000 Pre-Green Incentive Stake, the $500 Marshall & Sterling Children's Hunter Classic, the $500 Marshall & Sterling Adult Hunter Classic, the $500 NAL/WIHS Children's Hunter Classic and the $500 NAL/WIHS Adult Amateur Hunter Classic. Junior riders will also have the chance to compete in the WIHS Equitation, the USEF Talent Search, the ASPCA Maclay and the USEF Medal.

 

Jumper classes at the Brandywine Valley Summer Series continue to grow, with alluring prize money offered to jumpers competing throughout the two weeks. Divisions include the $14,500 Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumpers, the $3,500 Children's/Adult Jumpers and more. Highlight events for jumpers include the $5,000 M&T Bank High Junior/Amateur-Owner Hall of Fame Classic and the $3,500 Low Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Hall of Fame Classic.
