Catherine Haddad Staller, a US dressage rider who has been based in Vechta, Germany, has announced on her blog that Cadillac, one of her top Grand Prix horses, was humanely euthanized today.

Haddad Staller spent the summer competing and giving clinics in the U.S. She had two of her horses with her, Cadillac and Winyamaro, based at the US Equestrian Team headquarters in Gladstone, New Jersey.

Haddad Staller returned to Vechta at the end of October, but she left Cadillac behind at the equine veterinary clinic of her husband, Gregory Staller, DVM. The horse had cracked a tooth which resulted in an upper respiratory infection.

Cadillac had been competed in CDI3*, CDI4*, and in World Cup Qualifiers, earning scores in the high sixties and breaking the 70% mark.
