Additional Speakers Announced for CPI Seminars

Speakers Adele Einhorn, Gillian Hotz and Kim Jaussi join the roster of professionals that will represent the equestrian industry at this year’s CPI.

Adele Einhorn’s presentation, entitled 'Getting a Leg Up on the College Application Process and the Inside Scoop on Intercollegiate Riding,' will include helpful tips for a successful interview, writing a personal statement, and advice for parents.  Einhorn will be joined by Megan Martin, '08 Skidmore Intercollegiate Team Open Rider and MVP, who will provide an inside look at intercollegiate riding.

Einhorn is the Executive Director of the Skidmore College Saratoga Classic Horse Show and the Director of Special Projects in the Advancement Office.  Einhorn rode for Skidmore in the eighties and today she rides, trains, and shows with Bob Braswell and Terrapin Hill Farm.

Commenting on her appearance at the upcoming CPI, Einhorn smiled, "I am looking forward to meeting parents and students and helping out with such a wonderful event!"

Gillian Hotz, Ph.D. is the Director of the KiDZ Neuroscience Center and the Concussion, WalkSafe™ & BikeSafe™ Programs in the Department of Neurosurgery & The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Hotz is an Associate Research Professor and the Principal Investigator on many funded national, state and local grants for injury prevention research projects and clinical trials for children with traumatic brain injury. Dr. Hotz also directs a comprehensive Concussion Program and is a Credentialed ImPACT Consultant and Chairs the State Concussion Task Force which is working on legislation for the management of youth concussions. She has presented at many conferences on the local, national and international levels as well as published extensively in journals and books.

During her presentation at the 2012 CPI, Hotz will discuss the Management of Concussion in Sports. She explained, “I will discuss more of a comprehensive approach, which includes pre concussion education and ImPACT testing, and also prevention and management of a concussion. In addition to speaking, I look forward to meeting the riders and watching them compete.”

Another seminar, 'Leadership, Vision, and the Equestrian Athlete,' will be led by Kimberly S. Jaussi, Ph.D. Dr. Jaussi is a rider, coach, author, and leadership professor at the Center for Leadership Studies, School of Management at Binghamton University (SUNY). Jaussi's co-author, Olympic Silver Medalist Peter Leone, will also be on hand to link the workshop material to his own experiences, and offer his advice.

Describing her seminar, Jaussi stated, "Leaders have their eye on the future, actively creating it rather than waiting for it to come and then simply reacting. Riders must do the same thing, not only for each and every round but also in crafting their lives to build on and support their passion for our sport. In this workshop, the equestrian athletes fortunate enough to be part of CPI will have the opportunity to consider their own leadership perspective, begin to craft a vision for their future to include riding, college, and life goals, and align those goals with every ride they take."

"I think it's such an honor and privilege to work with these young, passionate, equestrian athletes at this incredible event," Jaussi acknowledged. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to help them make some sense of it all and to inspire them to engage a leadership mindset. A leadership mindset will help them actively create a future for themselves that allows them to fuel their whole selves - student, rider, and future leader. I am excited about those forthcoming discussions - I know that I will learn from them as much as they'll learn from me. And, I'm excited for them to get to hear Peter's thoughts as well. It's always fantastic to be able to share Peter's magic and wisdom with the younger audience and help them see firsthand what leadership in an equestrian athletes looks like!"
