Donkey Sanctuary brews up brand new Halloween treats
Halloween at The Donkey Sanctuary’s Sidmouth headquarters will take a ‘spooktacular’ twist this year with a brand new evening of ghoulish family fun.
The first ever Halloween Evening Extravaganza on Thursday 27 October (from 5pm - 7pm) promises a spooky array of fun activities to take part in:
· Ride the terrifying trailer around the dark tracks of The Donkey Sanctuary in return for a suggested donation (run between 5pm - 6pm and 6.30pm – 7pm)
· Meet and cuddle the monstrous Main Yard donkeys between 5pm – 7pm (free)
· Sample the scary menu at the Sanctuary’s Hayloft Restaurant from 5pm
· Join the Halloween characters for a ghost walk through the woods to the hermitage if you are brave enough to listen to their spine chilling tales at 6pm (donations gratefully accepted for this activity)
· Carve a pumpkin or get your face painted (£3 per activity)
· Drop into the Visitors’ Centre and find out more about the work of The Donkey Sanctuary
· Wear fancy dress if you dare!
The creepy theme continues throughout half term, with Halloween Holiday Hunts (daily 22 – 31 October, 9:30am – 4:30pm) providing the perfect opportunity to explore the Sanctuary and hunt for spooky donkey names (£1 per entry). You can also perfect your pumpkin carving skills and have your face painted (£3 per person per activity) during Spooky Halloween Activity days (Wednesday 26 and Friday 28 October, 11am – 3pm).
The Parents and Friends Association of The Elisabeth Svendsen Trust (EST), sister charity to The Donkey Sanctuary, have organised Halloween Fun Afternoons with spooky lucky dips, ghost train cart rides and fancy dress competitions on Tuesday 25 and Thursday 27 October (1:30pm – 3:30pm), with activity prices starting from £2.
Claire Shapcott, The Donkey Sanctuary’s Events Supervisor, says: “This half term is jam packed with spectacularly spooky events and exciting days out for all the family, so what better excuse to visit The Donkey Sanctuary, enjoy a ghoulishly good day out, meet our lovely donkeys and find out more about the work of our charity? This is the first year we have run Halloween events on such a large scale, and the brand new Halloween Evening Extravaganza promises to be crammed full of creepy treats.”
