Donkeys Noah and Davy Rescued from Floods Near York

The RSPCA is reporting that their special water rescue team has been busy rescuing numerous animals from floods in northern England.

Among the victims were Noah, age 4, and Davy, age 15, two donkeys that had become stranded when their field flooded.  One of the rescuers said:

We had to wade out quite a way to get to the donkeys and though they were happy to be led in the more shallow water it became much trickier when the field dipped.

The water was pretty deep. At one point we were up to our necks in it and the donkeys were literally swimming. I’ve done swimming with dolphins but it’s the first time, and hopefully the last, I’ll swim with donkeys!

After the success with the donkeys, the team headed to another location to help some sheep, but the herd had already managed to swim to safety.

The team then headed to Lancaster where they helped local officers rescue two horses and some cattle.
