Canada's Rising Dressage Talent Flock to FEI CDI2* J/Y in Alberta

 

 

Ottawa, ON --- Canada's rising dressage talent seized a rare opportunity to compete at an FEI sanctioned event held on Canadian soil when they competed in Calgary, AB, June 27-30, 2013.

Fresh from being selected to represent Canada at the 2013 Adequan FEI North American Junior & Young Rider Championships held July 16-21, 2013 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY, Georgia Tooke of Vernon, BC, made a clean sweep of the FEI Junior division taking first place in all three tests; Individual, Team and Freestyle, riding Magic, Chelsea Balcaen's 13-year-old Freisen sired by Laes H. Equally as impressive, Contessa Wise of Calgary, AB and Gaberdeen, Constance Blair's 14-year-old mare sired by Gallipoli, took home three second place finishes across the board in the same division. This event was their final opportunity for both riders to get some time in at this level prior to the Championships scheduled for July 16th - 21st in Lexington, Kentucky.

Gillian Wright of Calgary, AB, rode In Flagranti, Fritz Baehre's 13-year-old Trekehner stallion sired by Buddenbrock, to a first place in Saturday's FEI Grand Prix test. The duo also took first place in the FEI Intermediate II test.

Allegra Hohm of Edmonton, AB, took first in the FEI Prix St. Georges on Friday aboard Rowan, her 10-year-old Swedish Warmblood sired by Rotspon. Hayley Van Der Kloot of Calgary, AB, and Mystere, her 12-year-old Canadian Warmblood sired by Oskar, took the second place ribbon and Pam Janzen came in third riding Vegas, a 12-year-old Westphalian gelding owned by Ducat Developments Ltd.

In the FEI Intermediate I and Intermediaire 1 Freestyle, Holmes and Rowan again took first in both classes. Lynley Cook of Calgary, AB, and Encore, her 15-year-old Hanoverian, finished second in the Intermediate 1, while Janzen and Vegas, came in third. In the Freestyle, Jenzen and Cook trade places, Jenzen and Vegas taking the second place ribbon; with Cook and Encore in third.

The CDI2* Ground Jury consisted of; President, Joan Macartney, 4*, (CAN), Gabriel Armando, 4*, (ARG), Claudia Moreira de Mesquita, 4*, (BRA) and Foreign Judge; Mercedes Campdera, 4*, (MEX).
