Ottawa, Ontario --- Christilot Boylen has been named the Dressage Canada Red Scarf Equestrian Athlete of the Month for January 2013.
Boylen, a Canadian Olympian, who currently resides in Rottingen, Germany, rode Dio Mio, a 10-year-old Hanoverian gelding (De Niro x Charmeur) owned by Windhaven and Jill Irving, to second place in both the Prix St. Georges (69.974%) and the Intermediaire I (69.781%) at the CDI-W West Palm Beach Gold Coast Opener, held January 18-20, 2013.
One week later, Boylen and Dio Mio were victorious when they won both the Prix St. Georges test scoring 68.772% and the Intermediaire I class with 69.342% at CDI West Palm Beach World Dressage Masters, held January 24-27. With a second mount, Hudson 18, a nine-year-old Oldenburg gelding (Hohenstein x Democraat) also owned by Windhaven and Jill Irving, Boylen finished in sixth place in the Prix St. Geroge test, scoring 66.053%.
"January did indeed kick off well for me and the young horses," said Boylen. "I am very thankful that they all travelled well in December, and we were able to prepare and get ready for competition. I have a great team and super facility with all the things one needs to work and train-like great footing. I have time to concentrate on my horses, and the results then are the icing on the cake."
The Dressage Canada Red Scarf Equestrian Athlete of the Month is a recognition program that celebrates the achievements of Canadian dressage riders who represent Canada in national and international competition in the FEI Pony, Children, Junior, Young Rider, Advanced, Grand Prix and Young Horse classes.
