Jacqueline Brooks Named Dressage Canada Red Scarf Equestrian
Athlete of the Month for April

Ottawa, Ontario --- Canadian Olympian Jacqueline Brooks of Cedar Valley, ON, has been named the Dressage Canada Red Scarf Equestrian Athlete of the Month for April.

Brooks, 46, attended the prestigious Reem Acra FEI World Cup Dressage Final held April 24-28 in Gothenburg, SWE. In the Grand Prix class, Brooks and her 2012 Olympic partner D Niro, Brookhaven Dressage Inc.'s 14-year-old Swedish Warmblood gelding sired by D-Day, received a score of 67.356% winning one of the highly coveted spots in the renowned Grand Prix Freestyle where their final score of 68.661% earned them a ranking of 14th. Earlier in April, the duo contested at the Wellington CDI 5* held in Florida earning scores of 67.787% in the Grand Prix and 70.825% in the Freestyle for a seventh place finish.

" I'm absolutely thrilled to have been a named Dressage Canada Red Scarf Athlete of the Month. We train very hard day after day so it's nice when that's recognized, it means all the hard work has paid off," commented Brooks. "It's also nice because young riders can see it's not all about the win, it's about working hard and doing your best."

The Dressage Canada Red Scarf Equestrian Athlete of the Month is a recognition program that celebrates the achievements of Canadian dressage riders who represent Canada in national and international competition in the FEI Pony, Children, Junior, Young Rider, Advanced, Grand Prix and Young Horse classes.
