EHV-1 Update for California Outbreak
The California Department of Food and Agriculture reports that there are no new cases of EHV-1 since January 20th when the total number of cases reached eleven.
The first confirmed case was the only animal to display neurologic symptoms and that horse is recovering. All other cases showed respiratory symptoms plus hind leg swelling.
Necropsy results on the horse that was euthanized following collapse indicates that EHV-1 was not likely the cause of collapse.
The facility remains under quarantine.
