The Appleatchee Riders facility, located in Wenatchee, has posted the following notice on its website:
Appleatchee Riders Grounds will be closes to all events
thru June 12th due to the EHV-1 virus.

This is a voluntary quarantine, enacted by the facility's board.
Pilchuck Veterinary Hosptial in Snohomish issued an update yesterday that the EHV-1 positive horse in their isolation unit was "clinically stable." The positive horse is completely segregated from the rest of the hospital. The facility remains open for equine patients and is rigorously screening horses to prevent any positive animals from entering the hospital.
Many Washington state equestrian organizations, such as 4-H, are canceling activities, suggesting best practice husbandry information, and requesting that members curtail any unnecessary travel.
