Equestrian Aid Foundation Sponsors 2nd Riders4Helmets Helmet Safety Symposium

WELLINGTON, Fla. – The Equestrian Aid Foundation (EAF), a national nonprofit that assists horsemen during a time of need caused by catastrophic illnesses and injuries, will sponsor the 2nd Riders4Helmets Safety Symposium today at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky.

“We are proud to be a part of the driving force for safer riding,” said President R. Scot Evans. "We anticipate that a need will always exist for the charitable services the Equestrian Aid Foundation offers, however, the opportunity to minimize that need through safer riding practices will benefit the entire community."

The hosts of the symposium will be Dr Ferrell (United States Equestrian Team Physician) and Lyndsey White (co-founder riders4helmets). Attendees at the symposium will include: leading equestrians, representatives from various equestrian organizations (including the FEI, USEF, EMSA etc), helmet testing agencies, helmet manufacturers and leading neurosurgeons. The format of the symposium will be panels of invited speakers with a moderator, and will include formal presentations and discussion periods.

In 1996 the Equestrian AIDS Foundation was established to assist those with HIV/Aids. Recognizing a broader need, the organization changed its name to the Equestrian Aid Foundation and revised its mission. Its mission is to build a membership based organization to assist anyone in the equestrian world suffering from life threatening illness, catastrophic accidents or injuries by providing financial assistance for their medical or other basic needs. About Riders4Helmets:
Riders4Helmets was founded in early 2010 after Olympic dressage rider Courtney King-Dye was seriously injured in a riding accident. King-Dye, who remained in a coma for a month following her accident, was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and continues to undergo rehabilitation.
