Derly Chin de Muze Named as ‘Omega Alpha Horse of the Month’ for March

 
Ottawa, ON—Equine Canada has named Derly Chin de Muze the ‘Omega Alpha Horse of the Month’ for March.

Derly Chin de Muze, a chestnut nine-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare sired by For Pleasure and co-owned by Torrey Pines Stable and Ashland Stables, was the mount for Eric Lamaze, who was anchor rider for the Canadian Show Jumping Team, in the $75,000 FEI Nations’ Cup, Presented by G&C Farm, held March 2, during the CSIO4* FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL.

In her first appearance on the Canadian Equestrian Team, Derly Chin de Muze had two flawless, clear rounds with Lamaze in the irons. Their perfect score handily contributed to Canada’s third place finish in the Nations’ Cup competition when combined with the scores of teammates Yann Candele, Tiffany Foster and Ian Millar.

“I was really pleased with her,” said Lamaze of Derly Chin de Muze’s performance in the Nations’ Cup.  “She had already really impressed me in earlier in the season by showing maturity and mileage and, in the Nations’ Cup, she jumped really well in both rounds and felt really comfortable.  I thank the Fleischhacker family for giving me the ride, and Omega Alpha for their support of our sport.”

In addition, Derly Chin de Muze and Lamaze also finished in ninth place in the $500,000 CSI5* FTI Consulting Finale Grand Prix during the last week of the FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival (FTI WEF) was held March 28 to April 1 in Wellington, FL.

The Omega Alpha Horse of the Month program was developed to recognize a performance of exceptional merit by a horse from the disciplines of dressage, eventing or show jumping. Equine Canada is very pleased to have
