Equine Canada Recognizes Kerri McGregor and Christina (Tina) Collins in Honour of National Volunteer Week 2015

Ottawa, Ont. - In honour of National Volunteer Week 2015, Equine Canada (EC) is pleased to recognize the significant contributions of long-time EC volunteers, Kerri McGregor of Newmarket, Ont. and Christina (Tina) Collins of Loretto, Ont.

McGregor has been invaluable to the Canadian Equestrian Team (CET) in roles such as Assistant Team Leader, Team Leader, and Chef de Mission, with the vital support of Collins as Assistant Team Leader. Together, they applied impeccable organizational skills and an incredible talent for logistics toward ensuring the CET-including riders, horses, grooms, and all support staff-were expertly coordinated and supported during the lead up to major games, and on the ground during competition.

From coordinating international travel of Canada's team horses to performing competition site inspections to liaising with the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC), McGregor and Collins ensured Canada's high performance athletes and support team had the best possible logistical strategy planned and implemented for Pan American, Olympic, and FEI World Equestrian Games leading back to 2007.

"With the Team Leader and Chef de Mission responsibilities transitioning into the portfolio of Equine Canada's new High Performance department, we would be remiss not to honour the incredible job Kerri and Tina have done during previous cycles of major games," said EC CEO, Eva Havaris. "Equine Canada has been extremely fortunate to have had such proficient and generous volunteers as Kerri and Tina supporting the CET and liaising with the COC."

In addition to her volunteer roles in relation to major games, McGregor also served in previous appointments as Chair of Dressage Canada, Sport Council Chair, Director and Secretary on the EC Board, and finally as Equestrian's COC Session Member and member of both the Sport Partners Relations Committee and Team Selection Committee.

Collins has also been an exceptional resource to EC, having contributed many years toward the promotion and advancement of breed sport in Canada through various roles, including Chair of Breed Sport Canada.

"Kerri and Tina have been the very definition of philanthropists when it comes to the promotion of equestrian sport in Canada, and we can't thank them enough for all of their hard work and dedication," said EC President, Al Patterson.
