Gin & Juice Named as ‘Omega Alpha Horse of the Month’ for July

Ottawa, ON—Equine Canada has named Gin & Juice the ‘Omega Alpha Horse of the Month’ for July.

Paired with two-time Olympian Hawley Bennett-Awad, Gin & Juice won the CIC 3* division at the 10th annual Event at Rebecca Farm, held in Kalispell, Montana, USA, July 21–24, 2011.

Gin & Juice, an 11-year-old bay Thoroughbred mare owned by Bennett-Awad and Linda Paine, had a very good dressage test with an excellent trot tour to start the competition off with a score of 48.6, which left the duo in third. They added only 0.8 cross country time faults and four jumping faults to their dressage score to finish with 53.4 penalties for the win in the CIC 3* division.

“I am so excited that Ginny has been named horse of the month,” said Bennett-Awad, who was also paired with Gin & Juice for their team silver medal at the 2010 World Equestrian Games. “She was a rock star in Montana and I credit Omega Alpha for playing a big role. I have been using Omega Alpha products since Ginny’s big win in the CCI 3* at Bromont in 2009. Ginny has been a work in progress and the thousands of hours in the tack are paying off.”

The next stop for this dynamic pair is CCI 4* Land Rover Burghley Three Day Event taking place in Great Britain September 1-4, 2011, where Bennett-Awad is aiming for a top ten finish.

Bennett-Awad added, “I absolutely love riding Ginny and can’t wait to cross the pond for Burghley.”

The Omega Alpha Horse of the Month program was developed to recognize a performance of exceptional merit by a horse from the disciplines of dressage, eventing or show jumping. Equine Canada is very pleased to have Omega Alpha Pharmaceuticals’ generous support of the horse recognition program.
