High Performance Coach Certification Program

We are excited to announce the new High Performance Coach Certification Program, to the list of offerings for Canadian equestrian coaches. This new program is available for coaches who specialize in Jump, Eventing, Dressage or Reining, and who are working with athletes to the national championship or Young Rider FEI competition levels.

The EC/ National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) offers courses which are open to all interested participants, as well as those interested in evaluation for certification. Certification options are grouped in two streams: Instructor certification for those who are teaching non-competitive participants; and several levels of Coaching certifications for those who teach competitive students. Participants and parents are encouraged to pursue training with EC/NCCP certified coaches. Why Train with a Certified Coach?

Not a coach yet or interested in being one? The coaching program offers lots of opportunity for interested sport participants to learn. In fact, there are now over 20 training modules in the new program that are available to coaching candidates as well as any participant who is interested in the topics. Topics include ethics, sport psychology, teaching and analyzing performance, medications guidelines for competition, competition rules, athlete (human) conditioning, equine biomechanics and how to build successful yearly or seasonal training plans. You can download A List of Available Clinics and Courses. Detailed information about the High Performance Coach and the other certificate options in the new program are available here

One exciting aspect of the new program is that candidates no longer have to work their way through coaching levels. For some, this means the new program is significantly more affordable since you can apply directly to the program that most suits your main clientele base, or area of experience.

Contact your Provincia/Territorial Sport Organization about training courses or certification in your area. Contact Equine Canada for more information about the High Performance program. You can also check out the list of upcoming coaching and rider certification events.
