Kilrodan Abbott Named as ‘Omega Alpha Horse of the Month’ for April

Ottawa, ON—Equine Canada has named Kilrodan Abbott, owned by Peter, Susan and Dylan Barry, as the ‘Omega Alpha Horse of the Month’ for April.

At the prestigious CCI 4* Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event, held April 26–29, at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY, Kilrodan Abbott, a 13-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding, and Peter Barry of Dunham, QC, sat in 40th place following dressage with a score of 60.3.

Completing Derek Di Grazia’s challenging cross country course with one of the best performances of the day, incurring just 3.2 time penalties, moved the talented horse and his rider up the leaderboard into 14th place.

Adding one rail, for four penalties, to their score following jumping, the pair finished with a score of 67.5 which was good for 11th place overall.

“Riding at Rolex was a thrill for both of us,” said Barry who has owned Kilrodan Abbott, known as Eddie in the stable, since 2008. “Eddie cantered in a nice relaxed rhythm around the cross country course and recovered fast and easily afterwards.”

“It is to Alpha Omega's credit that they support the horses with good products as well our sport,” Barry added.

The Omega Alpha Horse of the Month program was developed to recognize a performance of exceptional merit by a horse from the disciplines of dressage, eventing or show jumping.
