Tony Eames Elected for Second Term on
Canadian Olympic Committee Board of Directors

Ottawa, Ont. -- Equine Canada congratulates Tony Eames of Stouffville, Ont. on being re-elected to the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) Board of Directors.

 

"I am delighted and honoured to have been elected to the Board of Directors of the Canadian Olympic Committee for a second four-year term," said Eames, who is also on the Equine Canada Board of Directors. "Under the dynamic leadership of Marcel Aubut, the COC has undergone a significant transformation. Moving forward, the COC has big plans for the future of high performance sport in Canada. I am very happy to be on the Board of this exciting organization."

 

Eames' has nearly 10 years of involvement in the COC under his belt, and with this re-appointment, his term will extend to April of 2019. Eames is currently serving as Chair of the Investment Committee and Vice Chair of the Finance Committee.

 

In addition to his involvement in the COC, Eames has been a Director on the EC Board since 2014, giving his time and expertise to the Finance and HR committees. Eames was recently appointed as Chair of the Governance Committee in addition to his other duties.

 

Professionally, Eames' background is highlighted by a 35-year international career with the Coca-Cola Company that included 13 years as President and CEO of the Canadian subsidiary. Prior to his involvement in EC, he spent 10 years as a Board member of Tennis Canada, including three years as Chair.

 

"Tony's commitment to sport in Canada is truly remarkable," said EC CEO, Eva Havaris. "EC is extremely fortunate to have someone with his corporate knowledge and experience, particularly in situations of organizational transition, at the governance level of EC.  Tony is a pioneer in sport leadership, not only for equestrian, but for Canadian sport as a whole."
