Equine Canada Weekend Review

Dressage
CDIO 3*/CDI 3*/1*/Y/J/U25 WEF WELLINGTON DRESSAGE NATIONS CUP
Canadian Dressage riders recently attended the CDIO 3*/CDI 3*/1*/Y/J/U25 WEF Wellington Dressage Nations Cup, held from April 11-14 in Wellington, FL, USA.
In addition to CDI 3* and 1* classes, the competition was host to the second annual Wellington Nations Cup. This non-championship Nations Cup is the first of its kind, allowing teams to include a mix of both Grand Prix and Prix St. Georges-level horses. The results of the Nations Cup were based on the CDIO 3* Grand Prix and the CDIO 3* Prix St. Georges classes.
Canada fielded two teams this year, both of which were highly successful, finishing third and sixth, respectively:

Furthermore, Boylen took home the Individual Gold Medal. At the conclusion of the Nations Cup classes, her two-day score of 148.29% with Dio Mio proved to be the highest of the competition. She was also honoured with the title of Most Valuable Rider, receiving a year-long sponsorship from Custom Saddlery, plus a Steffen's Advantage saddle.

Driving
SOUTHERN PINES COMBINED DRIVING EVENT
Catherine Levasseur of Sainte-Sophie, QC contested the Southern Pines Combined Driving Event, which took place from April 12 to 14 in Raeford, NC, USA. Partnered with her horse Misty, Levasseur competed in the Advanced Single Horse division, finishing fourth overall with a total score of 187.55.
After receiving a score of 56.1% in the Dressage phase, the duo moved on to the Marathon, where they added a score of 101.10-makingtheir A+B (Dressage and Marathon) total 171.29, and putting them in fifth place overall. However, they moved up to their final fourth place finish after obtaining a score of 16.26 in the Cones phase.

Eventing
OCALA HORSE PROPERTIES INTERNATIONAL THREE DAY EVENT
A large contingency of Canadian Eventing riders contested the Ocala Horse Properties International Three Day Event, held April 10-14 in Ocala, FL, USA. The event featured CCI 2* and CCI 1* divisions, and Canada was represented in the top three within both divisions. Jessica Phoenix of Cannington, ON (already a veteran and Olympian at the age of 29), dominated the CCI 2*, filling a remarkable three spots within the top 10. Her best result was a third place finish on her Dressage score of 48.40 aboard Erodium, a 12-year-old Dutch Warmblood-cross gelding owned by Vanessa Fenwick.
In the CC 1*, Dana Carlin, who currently lives and trains in Ocala, FL, was the top-placed Canadian. Riding Domestic Dispute, her 10-year-old Thoroughbred-cross gelding, Carlin took third place after scoring 45.30 in Dressage and adding four faults for one lowered rail in Stadium Jumping for a final score of 49.30.

Jumping
CSI 3* LUMMEN
Rebecca McGoldrick (a Canadian who currently resides in West Tisbury, MA, USA) competed for Canada at the CSI 3* Lummen, held April 10-14 in Belgium. Riding Alvarez, a 10-year-old Westphalian gelding owned by Debbie McGoldrick, she finished 13th in the 1.45m International Jumping Competition Against the Clock. She also earned 13th in the 1.40m version of the class aboard Cuba Libre, an 11-year-old Irish Sport Horse stallion also owned by Debbie McGoldrick.
