Dressage

 

CDI 1* DRESSAGE AT FLINTRIDGE

 

Mackenzie Thiessen-Ryall of Winnipeg, MB took part in the CDI 1* Dressage at Flintridge, held May 23-26 in Flintridge, CA, USA.

 

Riding her 15-year-old German-bred pony Danao, Mackenzie-Ryall competed in the CDI Junior division. After receiving a score of 61.485% for third place in the Team Test, she moved on to the Individual Test, where she scored 62.500% for second place. She was the only competitor to enter the Freestyle Test, but put in a solid performance for a score of 63.125%.

Eventing

 

CCI 1*/CIC 2* VIRGINIA HORSE TRIALS

 

Multiple Canadians were in attendance for the CCI 1*/CIC 2* Virginia Horse Trials, which took place from May 23 to 26 in Lexington, VA, USA.

 

Haley Armstrong-Laframboise of Mono, ON was the top-placed Canadian in the CIC 2* division, placing sixth with Jan Bigelow's 11-year-old American Warmblood mare Dejavu. The duo were in 15th place after a dressage score of 63.9 penalties, but moved up to 11th after eight jumping, but zero time faults in the stadium jumping phase. Their strongest phase turned out to be cross-country, where they incurred no jumping faults, and just 0.8 time faults for a final score of 72.7.

 

In addition, up-and-coming rider Moira de Ste. Croix-Laframboise of Kars, ON (who was part of Canada's Silver Medalist Team at the 2012 North American Junior and Young Rider Championships) contested the CCI 1*-JY aboard her 12-year-old Warmblood/Thoroughbred-cross gelding, Blue Ben. A dressage score of 57.1 put them in 10th place heading into cross-country, where a faultless performance moved them up to fourth place. After incurring 12 jumping faults in stadium jumping, they achieved a final placing of 10th.

CSI 2* ANGELSTONE SPRING PHASE I

 

The CSI 2* Angelstone Spring Phase I was held from May 22-26 in Rockwood, ON. The competition marked the first of multiple CSI-level tournaments to be hosted at the Canadian facility this season. Some of Canada's top show jumping riders (as well as multiple international competitors) went head to head throughout the week. The top results were as follows:
