Equine Canada Weekend Review

Dressage

Some of Canada's top Dressage riders travelled to Toronto for the renowned Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, held annually at The Direct Energy Centre in Toronto, ON. This year's Royal featured an invitational CDI3* Dressage competition consisting of a Grand Prix and a Grand Prix Freestyle. Jacqueline Brooks of Cedar Valley, ON, Ashley Holzer (a Toronto, ON native who currently resides in New York, NY, USA), Jaimey Irwin from Stouffville, ON, and David Marcus of Campbellville, ON delighted the crowds with beautiful performances. The results were as follows:

Jumping

The Royal was also host to plenty of jumping action. The CSI4*-level international show jumping competition kicked off on November 6 after the completion of the Canadian National Championships and other national series' finals (see last week's Review for an overview of these results). Some of the country's best riders faced off against top international competitors, such as Olympic riders Reed Kessler and McLain Ward of the USA and Ireland's Shane Sweetnam, as well as Olivier and Nicola Philippaerts from Belgium (sons of the famed Ludo Philippaerts)-just to name a few. The international show jumping classes were some of the biggest highlights of The Royal, drawing huge crowds to the afternoon and evening shows. The Canadian riders' results panned out as follows:
