Normal, Illinois' Town Council will be considering an ordinance revision proposal to regulate the allowance of farm animals inside residential areas, WJBC reports.
The ordinance already allows horses to be kept in town, but a proposed revision to allow chickens and homing pigeons will regulate the space requirements for horses.
“The proposal is to require that horses be kept in a fenced enclosure and have at least 10,000 square feet (about 929 sq metres) of open space, per horse,” City Attorney Steve Mahrt says.
For reference, one acre is 43,560 square feet, or about 4,047 square meters.
